Teck announces temporary shutdowns:
"... we will be implementing temporary shutdowns at our six steelmaking coal operations over the coming months.
Each of our steelmaking coal operations will be temporarily shut down for a total of 20 days, staggered over the summer months. Scheduling of these shutdown periods is determined on a site-by-site basis. We are taking this measure as part of a disciplined approach to aligning our production and inventories with challenging coal market conditions, in order to ensure that our operations remain strong over the long term. Please note that these temporary shutdowns will not affect ongoing work related to implementation of the Elk Valley Water Quality Plan."

Partnership for Resource Trade
The Canadian Chamber of Commerce has announced a new initiative, the Partnership for Resource Trade, which seeks to engage Canadians in the important national discussion about the key role that natural resources play in our success as a country. The Partnership believes that the responsible use of Canada’s abundant natural resources is an important source of pride, opportunity and social and economic benefit to Canada. The Elkford Chamber of Commerce is supportive of this initiative and we encourage our members to inform themselves and support the initiative as well. The Partnership began a public advocacy campaign earlier this year. Learn More
